Declining an offer/committed to another school

Declining an offer/committed to another school (EMAIL VERSION)

Hey Coach NAME,
It's ATHLETE NAME again. I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your interest in me.  However, I have decided to commit with SCHOOL NAME instead.  This was a difficult to decision for my family and I to make, but I ultimately believe it's the best fit for me.
Thank you again for your generous offer and I wish you the best in your continued recruiting efforts.

Declining an offer/committed to another school (PHONE/IN-PERSON VERSION)
Hi Coach_______,
This is YOUR NAME.  I wanted to personally call you and let you know that I've accepted a verbal scholarship offer to NAME OF SCHOOL.
After my recent official visit there, I feel NAME OF SCHOOL is the best school and SPORT program for me right now.
I really appreciate your interest and the efforts you and your staff took in recruiting me.  I wish you the best of luck with the upcoming season. I would also greatly appreciate you not making this information public as I would like to personally call the other schools and coaches that also recruited me.
Thanks again.
If they begin making statements or asking more questions, like "but do you know .....",  or "have you really thought about ......", you can cut it short and say,
"My family and I created a very detailed decision making process on what we were looking for and NAME OF SCHOOL matched our criteria. Thanks again for everything coach.  I want to wish you much success next season."
